BRIGHTON STATE RECREATION AREA
Welcome to 4,947 acres of recreation! The Brighton Recreation Area is located 5 miles Southeast of the interchange of I-96 and US-23 near Brighton.
Attractions
This area has a combination of high, irregular ranges of hills, interspersed with a number of attractive lakes. Oak forest, thick hedgerows and open spaces blend on the uplands while grassy marshes, shrub masses and dense swamp timber make the lowlands.
Summer Activities
Brighton Recreation Area provides facilities for swimming, picnicking and camping. There are unlimited opportunities for hiking, boating, nature study and the enjoyment of Michigan scenery in all of its colors! There is easy access to many lakes for fishing and boating.
Winter Activities
In the winter, enjoy the snowmobile and cross-country ski trails, as well as ice fishing and skating. Wildlife is abundant and hunting is allowed during legal seasons.

Beach and Picnic Areas
Both beach areas have concessions, boat rentals, and play areas as well as swimming and picnicking. The Chilson unit also has four picnic shelters available for reservations.
